Health Benefits Of Sleeping In Stockings

There are two types of people, those who sleep with stockings and those who cannot bear to use them in bed, however, a study has confirmed that one of them is right.

Research carried out by the Spanish Neurological Society (SEN) ensured that these small garments are very important for those people who find it difficult to sleep at night.

According to Dr. Inés Picornell Darder, specialist in Clinical Neurophysiology and President of the Spanish Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (SENFC), for the body to rest completely, it is necessary to maintain an adequate body temperature.

It is at that moment when the stockings make their important appearance, because by keeping us warm in bed they help to fall asleep more quickly.

When the feet are hot, the veins dilate and heat spreads throughout the body. “It is then that the brain understands that the time has come to rest.

On the contrary, if our body stays cold, it will have to work harder to regulate its temperature. What will keep us alert, not very relaxed, and it will take us a while to fall asleep ”, details the investigation.

But why is it important to maintain an adequate temperature for sleeping?

“During the phase called NREM [numbness and light sleep], the body temperature tends to drop. In fact, this descent begins at five or six in the afternoon.

In this first section, everything is regulated: respiration, muscle tone and heart rate. However, when entering the REM phase [deep sleep that happens at dawn], the frequencies of our body change and the temperature is not controlled, ”explained the expert.

That is why specialists recommend using stockings to go to bed, because you fall asleep faster and more effectively. However, they warn that good hygiene must be maintained to avoid the appearance of fungi. In addition they should not be too tight or thick, the ideal are those of natural fiber.

Another positive point for sleeping in stockings is that they are a powerful aphrodisiac, according to a study by the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Because wearing “this garment during sex makes it easier for both sexes to reach orgasm,” explained the author of the research, neuroscientist Gert Holstege.

The psychologist specialized in Clinical Sexology and Sexual Health, Cristina Callao, explains that this occurs because “when the temperature of our feet is warm and comfortable enough, we maintain the self-regulation of our body and, in this way, the blood irrigates direct to the female clitoris and genitalia. “
