When you attend the job interview today, it is quite likely the panel would ask you to TELL THEM ABOUT YOURSELF. This is often the opener to the interview.

That question seems simple but could also get complicated for you. Do not complicate it.

Remember, the panel already has an idea who you are because they may have perused your CV prior. With this question, your prospective employer is seeking to assess:

• #confidence in yourself.
• #consistency with what you say vrs your CV.
• #composure
• how many impressions you’re able to convey; and
• your suitability for the role and organization.
** Recruiters form a lasting impression of you in the first few minutes when you begin answering this question***
1. Ensure that you have thoroughly mastered your CV so that you can avoid contradictions.
2. Ensure your choice of wardrobe is comfortable and appropriate.
3. Be at the interview venue on time.
4. Remain calm.
5. Catch your breath and relax.
6. Try to smile
7. Know key things about the company you’re interviewing for.

Remember again, that the panel you have encountered is human too and they do not necessarily know everything.
Good luck!
