Instagram , one of the most popular social networks of the moment, will include new account verification functions to combat the ” trolls ” and users who disseminate false information .

One of the new features will allow all users to corroborate that they interact with accounts that are what they appear.

The tab called “About this account” will show details about the time it takes on Instagram , the country of origin and the accounts in common that follow.

In addition, this tool will display any name changes that occurred in the last year and a notice that is an active account, according to a statement from the company.

The social network also continues with its process of verification of accounts of public figures and prominent users.

In order to have a blue symbol in a profile, Instagram must be provided with the name of the account, the applicant’s full name and a copy of a legal or business identification.

Instagram will select, according to its criteria, accounts that can be verified , if they have large audiences.

The request can be presented in the configuration icon, in the lower part of the application, select “Request verification” and fill all the required fields.

Two-factor authentication will also be added , which will make it safer to log in to a device, as it will request a code that will be sent to a third app.

The changes occur within the framework of the elimination of hundreds of fake Facebook and Twitter accounts that were related to Russia and Iran meant to spread misinformation.
