In the Rift Valley, in Kenya, a crack of several kilometers caused the inhabitants to evacuate the place. The causes of the opening, would be the intense rains and seismic activity in the area.

Cracks began to appear on the main road of Mai Mahiu, an important road to the Maasai Mara nature and tourist reserve, after weeks of rain, floods and tremors.

The fissure forced families to leave their homes before the warning of geologists that could be extended even more with the expected rains in the coming months.

Eliud Njoroge Mbugua and his wife were inside their house when a crack appeared on the cement floor and began to spread.

The first time they noticed the crack was on March 18. In the days that followed, the house became unstable that it had to be demolished.

According to geologists, the giant crack is further proof of how unstable the Rift Valley region is, where the separation of eastern, eastern Africa and Gregory converge.
