Former Citizen TV News Anchor Jacque Maribe has embarked on a new chapter in her career journey, securing a significant role within the Public Service Ministry under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria. Maribe, once renowned for her captivating presence on television screens, has been appointed as the Head of Communications, marking a remarkable turnaround following her recent acquittal in the highly publicized Monica Kimani murder case.

The news of Maribe’s appointment was met with widespread praise and commendation, with Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi expressing his felicitations and gratitude towards CS Moses Kuria for what he described as “standing with a generation.” Itumbi’s sentiments echoed the sentiments of many who saw Maribe’s appointment as a symbol of resilience and redemption in the face of adversity.
Maribe’s journey to this pivotal role has been marked by tumultuous legal battles and public scrutiny, particularly stemming from her involvement in the Monica Kimani murder case. However, on February 9, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka delivered a verdict of not guilty for Maribe, citing a lack of concrete evidence linking her to the crime. While her former partner Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, was found guilty, Maribe emerged from the trial with her innocence upheld by the court.
Justice Nzioka acquits Maribe
In her ruling, Justice Nzioka emphasized the absence of compelling evidence placing Maribe at the scene of the crime or indicating any form of communication between her and the deceased. This exoneration paved the way for Maribe to reclaim her professional standing and pursue new opportunities.
Maribe’s appointment as the Head of Communications at the Ministry of Public Service represents a significant milestone in her career trajectory. It marks a return to prominence in the public sphere after a period of professional and personal challenges. Her tenure at Citizen TV, once illustrious, was overshadowed by the legal proceedings surrounding the murder case. Despite briefly returning to the station in an editorial capacity, Maribe eventually parted ways with Citizen TV in July 2019.
Subsequently, she ventured into digital media with the launch of a talk show on YouTube, albeit encountering setbacks leading to its eventual discontinuation. However, Maribe’s resilience and determination have seen her navigate through turbulent times, emerging stronger and more resolute in her pursuit of professional fulfilment.
