Jamaican star Etana was all set to deliver an unforgettable performance at her highly anticipated concert in Kenya on Saturday, December 7. However, the event was unexpectedly cancelled after organisers failed to agree on event grounds. The show’s cancellation came as a result of a scheduling conflict with Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, who was also slated to perform in the same arena.
Etana, visibly frustrated, took to social media to express her disappointment. She lamented that her show, which had been promoted long before Diamond’s event, was being sabotaged. “My show on Dec. 7 was being promoted long before someone popped up with a show with Diamond Platnumz on the same day and in the same area,” she wrote. She also clarified that the presence of large crowds didn’t intimidate her, as it is a common sight in Jamaica.
Despite the setback, Etana is determined to bring the heat to Kenya. She is now set to headline the Jamhuri Fest in Eldoret on Sunday, December 15, alongside Kenya’s own Wyre. The event will run from Thursday, December 12, through Sunday, December 15, with opening performances from Ssaru, Nameless, and DJ Protege.
Fidel, Ssaru’s manager, spoke to the media about the event, explaining that it would also feature performances in other towns like Nyeri, with artists such as Fathermoh taking the stage. Club Baniyas, the event’s host, expressed their excitement at welcoming both Etana and local Kenyan talent to perform, calling it a “privilege” to be part of such a significant event that celebrates the universal language of music and culture.
With tickets already in high demand, fans are encouraged to show their support for Etana and the other performers. Despite the earlier disappointment, Etana’s show in Eldoret is shaping up to be a memorable experience for all involved.
The stage is set for an incredible night, and Etana’s Kenyan fans can look forward to an unforgettable performance as the Jamaican star finally takes the spotlight in Eldoret.
