Veteran journalist Jeff Koinange has been absent from Citizen TV since August 2025, sparking widespread speculation and concern on social media. Fans grew anxious after he missed both his prime-time news program and his popular interview show, Jeff Koinange Live (JKL), with no official updates from the network or the journalist himself.
Amid the rumours, Fanya Mambo Kinuthia of the Hot 96 FM breakfast show confirmed that he spoke with Jeff on Monday, November 24. Kinuthia reassured Kenyans that Jeff is alive and well, urging the public to ignore social media speculation. “Take it from us who talk to Jeff regularly. He is okay. Avoid these rumours online. He doesn’t want to respond to every barking dog on the street,” Kinuthia said.
Patric Igunza, Jeff’s co-host, echoed the reassurance, adding that rumours often say more about the people spreading them than about the truth. “He is very much okay. Rumours reflect the teller more than reality. The truth has no agenda,” Igunza stated.
The clarification comes after social media personality Xtian Dela shared a WhatsApp conversation with Jeff, showing that the journalist is active and responding to messages. Dela’s post condemned the false claims and confirmed that Jeff remains safe and in good health.
Jeff Koinange’s absence had fueled online speculation, with some fans fearing the worst. The reassurances from colleagues and social media exchanges now put an end to the rumours, providing relief to his followers who have been concerned about the media personality.
