Governor Kambogo has no case to answer in court after a long battle in the corridors of justice since 2011, this was according to Judge Peter Ndwiga.
“After carefully evaluating the evidence presented before the court, the adversely mentioned parties had no motive to harm the deceased and cannot be held responsible for the death,” said Mr Ndwiga in his ruling.
The Kehancha Magistrate Court also set free other 5 more suspects who were in the case of the University of Nairobi student, Mercy Keino in 17th June 2011.
Keino’s body was found butchered on Waiyaki way after attending an in house party hosted at the governor’s home.
It is then that the DPP Keriako Tobiko ordered an inquest by the police to find the killers.
“It is unfortunate that the inference created herein is that the deceased wandered onto a busy public road in a drunken stupor in the middle of the night and hence may have greatly contributed or may have been the author of her own misfortune whereby she was involved in a fatal hit and run traffic accident,” the magistrate ruled.
Other 5 more party members who were at Wasini Luxury Homes included Emanuel Mugaru, Robert Gitau, Joseph Kangethe, Peter Munene .
A total of 46 witnesses had appeared before the court and testified in the inquest
