Kenyan constitution of 2010 provides a very special platform through which any Kenyan who could not be allowed to vie via any political party to seek the party on independent ticket.
This one means that the candidate will not be a member of any political party and must remain neutral during the election process.

MC Jessy
Kenya’s popular comedian made a shock move when he jumped into political scene and declared his interests to via for South Imenti seat under the UDA ticket.
However, his dream to vie on DP Ruto’s UDA party was thwarted when he was told to step down for a popular candidate in South Imenti.
Comedian MC Jessy aka Jasper Muthomi retreated and emerged as an Independent candidate.
Dorea Chege – Nairobi Women Rep Position
Actress Dorea Chege has declared her interest in Nairobi Women Rep seat.
The former Maria actor stated her intentions to replace MP Esther Passaris early in January 2022 ahead of the August General elections.
Dorea Chege also outlined that she won’t be joining any political alliance as she hope to go as an independent candidate
Njambi Koikai-MP Dagoretti South
In January 2022, Trace Radio presenter Njambi Koikai announced that she will contest for Dagoretti South parliamentary seat
Njambi Koikai aka Jahmby Fahyaa Mommy will be looking to unseat Dennis John Kiarie (KJ), who was also a media personality before joining politics.
A move by Koikai to vie for the political seat ahead of 2022 August General Elections elicited mixed reactions, with some supporting her move while others cautioning her over the new status.
