Recent activities in Ololuua Forest located in Nairobi, Kenya, have sparked concerns among citizens regarding potential land grabbing by private developers. The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has responded to these concerns by clarifying the ownership status of the forest land and addressing the allegations of illegal occupation.

KFS Addresses Concerns Over Ololuua Forest Activities

In a public statement, KFS acknowledged the questions raised by Kenyans regarding the construction activities within Ololuua Forest. The Service categorically stated that it is the sole owner of the land and refuted claims of land grabbing. The statement aimed to dispel any misinformation and confusion among the public regarding the forest’s ownership.

However, KFS also acknowledged that various government agencies are currently occupying parts of the land in question. The Service did not specify which agencies are involved, but it emphasized that no individual has been allocated land within Ololuua Forest.

The statement further urged anyone with evidence of land grabbing or illegal occupation to come forward and report to the authorities. KFS assured the public that it would take appropriate action to investigate any such claims and protect Ololuua Forest as a vital natural resource.

Ololuua Forest is known for its scenic nature trails and waterfalls, attracting both locals and tourists. Reports of land grabbing emerged earlier this year when neighbouring communities raised concerns about the construction of a perimeter wall around the forest. They questioned the allocation process and expressed worries about potential private development on the land.

In response, Kenya Forest Service reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Ololuua Forest for future generations and ensuring that it remains a natural asset accessible to all. The Service emphasized transparency and encouraged collaboration from the public in preserving this important ecological area.

Finally, as discussions and investigations continue regarding Ololuua Forest, KFS remains vigilant in upholding its mandate to protect Kenya’s forest cover and biodiversity. The outcome of these efforts will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of Ololuua Forest and addressing the concerns of all stakeholders involved.
