In a post on his social media handle, Murkomen assured Kenyans of their safety, expressing gratitude for their concerns and prayers. The helicopter, registered as 5Y-PKI and privately owned, had been hired by Murkomen and Kositany for transportation purposes. They were en route to Nyatike, Migori county, to offer condolences to KAA Managing Director Henry Ogoye, who had recently lost his mother.
“We had a small mishap, and we thank God we are safe. Arrived safely in Nyatike, Migori county with the chairman Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) to condole with our KAA MD Henry Ogoye who lost his loving mother,” Murkomen stated.
Despite the incident, Murkomen and Kositany managed to reach their destination safely. However, the helicopter sustained damage to its landing gear during the attempted takeoff, prompting police intervention to secure the scene. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
This incident comes amidst a flurry of political activity in Kenya, with attention drawn to Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union (AU) position.
