Kenya and entire world is mourning the demise of former United Nations Secretary General Koffi Annan.

The Ghanaian passed on on Saturday aged 80 years old while receiving treatment in Bern, Switzerland

Facts you should know about late Koffi Annan.

  1. He won a Nobel Prize from his exemplary humanitarian work before his demise.
  2. After working for UN in different capacities, he was a U.N. Secretary General in 1996
  3. He served as a UN Secretary General for two terms leaving office in December 2006
  4. He was the first African to serve in the UN’s top diplomatic office
  5. He will remain in the books of Kenya’s history after finding a truce in PEV of 2007 between President Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga
