Actor Martin Githinji, better known as Daddie Marto, recently claimed that his financial troubles began after taking a loan to build a house for his estranged wife’s parents. His claims sparked a heated response from his former partner, Koku Lwanga, who took to Instagram to share financial records and challenge his version of events.
In his public statement, Daddie Marto said he took a loan to build a house for Koku’s parents. He blamed this decision for his ongoing financial difficulties. He also alleged that Koku’s accusations of abuse and infidelity had damaged his image and career. He stated that these events had left him with a broken reputation and mounting debt. Marto said he planned to pursue the matter through legal channels.
Koku rejected Marto’s claims. She posted a series of receipts and explanations on Instagram, showing how much money her parents had contributed to the project. She said her mother gave Marto KSh 2.6 million and an additional KSh 300,000. Her father sent $2,000, which she estimated as KSh 258,000, and had earlier given KSh 500,000 to support Marto personally. Koku said, “It is so painful to see you mention my mother’s house as the source of your financial woes. She truly does not deserve that.” She also explained that Marto lost a significant amount of money to a fraudulent builder. Despite this, her mother urged Marto to focus only on essential parts of the construction so they could move in and finish the rest over time.
Koku said she took responsibility and tried to help Marto recover the money spent. She claimed she gave him all her earnings from advertisement jobs. She did this, she said, out of concern for his mental and emotional state during the stressful construction period.
The breakdown of their marriage has been public and bitter. In June, Koku accused Marto of physical abuse and revealed he had moved on with another woman. She also said he made her pay rent to stay in the family home. In response, Marto denied the abuse allegations and promised to take legal action to defend himself.
When asked if she was open to dating again, Koku said she had no intention of falling in love or remarrying. She made it clear that her focus is now on financial stability and personal growth. “I’m about money and rebuilding my life,” she wrote.
Koku Lwanga has publicly refuted Daddie Marto’s claims that he went into debt to build a house for her parents. She presented financial records to show that her family had contributed significantly. She also outlined the steps she took to help him recover from the losses. Their ongoing dispute continues to unfold online as both parties share conflicting narratives.
