Influencer Lydia Wanjiru has addressed allegations that she pushed her boyfriend, Leon Doso, from a fourth-floor apartment. The Kisumu-based content creator took to social media to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and defend herself against what she called false and damaging claims.
Leon Doso, a club promoter, was seriously injured in the fall and spent two weeks in hospital before being discharged. The story gained traction after several bloggers and influencers suggested Wanjiru had intentionally harmed him. In her response, Lydia firmly denied the accusations and said the fall was an accident.
She explained that Doso had just arrived home and was removing his shoes on the balcony when the incident occurred. According to her, he slipped and fell with no foul play involved. She also pointed out that only two days before the accident, a two-year-old child had fallen from the same building and ended up in the same high-dependency hospital ward as Doso.
Wanjiru expressed frustration over the false stories circulating online. She called out specific Facebook bloggers and a Kisumu-based influencer for claiming she was seeking revenge and had orchestrated the fall. She revealed that her lawyer had addressed the issue formally but made it clear she intended to confront those spreading misinformation in person.
She stated, “There’s no big story here—Leone fell while removing his shoes. A 2-year-old had fallen from the same apartment, but from the second floor, just two days before. We found him in the same high-dependence unit where Leone was. I was the third person to see him down. But again, being a Kikuyu and living unapologetically seems to be a crime.”
Wanjiru also pointed out the importance of CCTV footage, noting that she was grateful this incident did not happen in a private space without video evidence. She suggested that without such proof, the situation could have escalated even further.
In her final remarks, she challenged her critics by asking why they chose to spread blame instead of focusing on Doso’s recovery. “If you were concerned about what happened to him, wouldn’t your priority be ensuring that he received the necessary medical attention and praying for his recovery? After he’s well, then you can pursue the truth and seek justice,” she said.
Prior to the incident, Doso and Wanjiru had broken up and later reconciled. During their separation, Doso hinted at plans to win her back with a gift. He had KSh 1.5 million and was looking to buy her a Honda Vezel, which she had mentioned wanting. He also talked about gifting her a parcel of land as part of his efforts to mend their relationship.
Despite the controversy, Wanjiru has remained vocal and defiant. She continues to insist that the fall was an unfortunate accident and not a criminal act. Her critics remain active online, but so does she—committed to clearing her name.
