After leaving Kenya under a cloud of controversy, former police officer Linda Okello has reinvented herself in the United States—and it’s paying off. Once known for a viral photo that caused uproar within the police ranks, Linda has since turned the page, launching a thriving business and creating a better life for herself and her daughter.

The mother of one made headlines years ago when a photo of her in a form-fitting dress while on duty sparked public attention and internal disciplinary issues. The backlash from her superiors prompted Linda to relocate to the US in search of peace, opportunity, and a fresh start.

Now based in South Carolina, Linda recently revealed that she’s running a profitable car rental business that has seen her fully booked for months. In a post shared on Monday, July 8, she described herself as a risk taker and entrepreneur at heart. She shared that venturing into the car hire industry was a leap of faith—and one that has paid off.

“I’m a risk taker at heart! I recently jumped into the car rental business because why not try something new? So far, so good. I’m booked until October!” she wrote.

Linda added that she had just acquired a new vehicle for her growing business and already listed it for rental. Her long-term vision includes owning at least five cars that generate income passively. “My goal? Five cars and a fleet that moves while I sleep. Entrepreneurship isn’t easy, but I’m here for the hustle, the lessons, and the wins—one booking at a time, one prayer at a time!”

Alongside her announcement, she posted a photo of herself cleaning a black Toyota RAV4 outside her home, readying it for the next client. With a growing customer base and increasing interest in her services, Linda invited Kenyans visiting South Carolina to look her up for reliable car hire options.

The former policewoman’s business success comes on the heels of another major achievement. In March 2024, Linda became a landlord for the second time after purchasing a beautiful two-storey home in South Carolina. The house features a double-door garage, manicured lawn, and a sleek grey-and-white exterior with large windows that fill the interior with natural light.

Linda shared photos of the special moment she signed the ownership documents and celebrated outside the house with a bright smile. She admitted that the journey to homeownership hadn’t been easy and required perseverance and faith. “I almost gave up, but God came through,” she wrote.

Linda Okello’s story continues to inspire many who see in her a symbol of resilience, reinvention, and fearless pursuit of success. From police patrols in Kenya to entrepreneurial wins in the US, Linda proves that even the most unexpected setbacks can pave the way for a remarkable comeback.
