Political analyst and media commentator Mark Bichachi has revealed details about his ongoing health challenges, which have affected him physically, emotionally, and financially.

Bichachi, known for his political insights on television and radio, shared that he has been battling multiple health complications for several years. In March 2025, he underwent surgery to repair his occipital nerve after years of chronic pain, migraines, hormonal imbalances, and diabetes-related issues.

While the procedure provided some relief, his health problems continued. He has been struggling with diabetes, high blood pressure, and side effects from long-term medication. In October, his condition worsened, leading to hospitalization for panic attacks, painful cramps, and severe acidity. Doctors later diagnosed him with a stage 3 hiatal hernia, which now requires another surgery.

Bichachi explained that the cost of treatment and medication has become overwhelming, as his medical insurance coverage has run out. He appealed for financial help from the public to assist with his upcoming surgery and ongoing care.

Medical professionals note that a stage 3 hiatal hernia can cause significant discomfort and often needs surgical intervention. Recovery requires not only surgery but also consistent follow-up care, a special diet, and medication, which can strain both finances and emotional well-being.

Kenyans have responded with messages of encouragement and offers of support. Many have commended Bichachi for speaking openly about his condition, calling his story a reminder of the financial and emotional burden faced by many patients living with chronic illnesses.
