Medical experts dispatched by Ministry of Health in Migori county have declared that that viral STI dubbed Jakadala should be treated as a scam.

Confirming the allegations , Migori County Executive in charge of health Isca Oluoch asked residents to practise safe sex but treat such information as a scam since the medics could not establish any tangible information

The outbreak romours broke out last week creating fear that the disease could kill victims in a week after infection

“There is a lot of talk about the disease called Jakadala, which, according to rumours, has terrible signs. Already, a surveillance team is out to ascertain facts.

“What we currently know is that the disease has been named after a popular musician. What we have are rumours, but we are not taking chances,” explained the health executive earlier.

The fear for the strange disease were catapulted by claims that already five patients had been admitted at various health centres and were placed under treatment.

However experts reported that a patient suffering from penis cancer was admitted in Migori County Referral Hospital

Areas that were highly blamed for the disease include Awendo, Komito mines in Rono sub-county and Kuria, Suna and Nyatike areas.

Migori county has been one of the top listed counties in terms of HIV and STI transmissions as a result of high prostitution taking place in the region
