The National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has moved the gender bill to 2019 after the parliament failed to raise the 233 members required to pass the bill.
This followed a request by Majority Leader Adan Duale to request the speaker to postpone the bill.
During then, the house had in attendance of NASA leaders Raila Odinaga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Minority Leader John Mbadi supported Duale’s request stating that it will create enough time for them to lobby required support.
Kenyans took to social media to discuss the Gender Bill process which seeks to increase number of women in parliament.
😂😂With this #GenderBill feminists in Nairobi kutubeba ufala! Nkt. This bill will be passed in 2078. Let women compete on a fair ground with their male counterparts. What we need to level the battle ground for all parties. That is what women need not special ground.

#GenderBill thanks hata isivotiwe juu we are all able, all we need is empowerment and resources to help us go struggle with men for elective seats, not just be having sex around with party NEC waiting for nomination, @EAukot @ItsMutai

My MP Dr Rachael Kaki Nyamai is woman.
My Governor Hon Charity Ngilu is a woman.
The two women were voted in.
They competed for the positions and defeated men..
I think this is what other women should do and let's forget the #GenderBill pic.twitter.com/OQmK2yBI4S

But it beats me when some women legislators have to be lobbied to be in the house to vote for the #GenderBill… Hon. @EstherPassaris said on the floor that they had to lobby their male counterparts and even female colleagues. This shouldn't be happening.

I like how some Kenyans are suddenly so passionate about THE IMPLEMENTATION of the constitution when it comes to the #GenderBill and dead silent when it comes to the implementation of CHAPTER SIX of the very same constitution. Hypocrisy is what we are made of. HYPOCRITES.

It's very interesting to see how people who claim to be very hard working expect to get more nominations to Parliament which they don't even acquire through Meritocracy but Dicksology. Just an out with a Party leader or bribe & boom! Let people campaign & be elected. #GenderBill
