Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has raised concern after the sudden death of veteran radio presenter and Mayienga FM head Festus Amimo. News of his passing emerged on Sunday, December 7. A colleague who requested anonymity said Amimo collapsed and died in the morning hours.
Millie said the news shocked her. She asked authorities to investigate sudden deaths that have affected several public figures in recent years. She noted that many Kenyans have collapsed or died shortly after brief illness. She questioned whether the trend has any link to health events from previous years.
Millie referenced a suggestion made by Raila Odinga’s sister Dr Akinyi Wenwa and asked whether COVID jabs given in 2021 should be reviewed as part of the investigation. She posted the remarks on Facebook and called for a structured inquiry to determine whether patterns exist.
Her comments sparked varied reactions from the public. Some supported the call for investigations. Others urged caution and called for scientific review. Anita Soina said that concerns around unexplained deaths should be examined. Namagwa Namagwa warned against quick conclusions and highlighted that several medical conditions can lead to sudden death. Simeon Rotich said the matter deserved full investigation.
Josephat Ogada encouraged Millie to push agencies to start formal inquiries. Jeconia Wuod Nyandere noted that sudden deaths have occurred across generations and may not be tied to a single cause. Chimamanda LC asked Kenyans to rely on medical evidence and pointed out that postmortem examinations help determine cause of death. Diana Rose rejected theories linking deaths to vaccines and said the COVID vaccine saved many lives.
Festus Amimo’s death has drawn messages of respect from colleagues, leaders and fans. His long career at Mayienga FM built a strong audience and left a clear impact on the radio industry. The call for investigations reflects growing public concern and interest in understanding unexpected deaths affecting well known figures.
