Shalkido Ga Cucu, a renowned Mugithi musician and former member of Sailors Gang, has died following a devastating accident on Thika Road on Sunday, October 5. The crash occurred in the early hours near Githurai, just before Roysambu, around 4:42 am, along the main highway toward Thika Town.
First responders reported that Shalkido was hit from behind. He suffered severe injuries, including brain bleeding and swelling, as well as a fractured left thigh. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors pronounced him brain-dead shortly after arrival.
Peter Miracle Baby, Shalkido’s former bandmate, confirmed the musician’s death. He said he received a call from Shalkido’s father informing him that Shalkido had passed away at 6:30 pm. Miracle described his feelings as shocked and devastated, noting that he had kept in occasional contact with his former bandmate.
