The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service have issued a public alert over a group of muggers and conmen preying on innocent Nairobians in the CBD.
The police have blamed Moi Avenue to be a hot bed of the muggers.
“We caution all members of the public to remain vigilant and inform us in case they sight the suspects anywhere,” the police have warned
Police using tip-offs from the public have already arrested one of the ring leaders, John Ng’ethe Mwaura.
“Following a tip off from a member of the public, our officers managed to arrest Mwaura’s accomplice one, Peter Gitau Kibe with whom they run the racket together. He will be arraigned in court tomorrow,” said the police.
Police noted also that Mwaura has been masquerading as a pastor from Christ Love International Ministry who con unsuspecting victims using fake coupons of redeemable prizes.
