The National Police Service (NPS) is set to abolish the positions of Officers Commanding Stations (OCSs) and replacing them with Ward Police Commanders.
Before, OCSs were picked Kenya Police Service, but according to Police Boss Henry Mutyambai, their replacements will come from police units such as Kenya Police Service, the Administrative Police Service and sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
This would give birth to a total of 1,450 Ward Police Commanders who will be in-charge of officers in various wards.
Already changes had been rolling, among them scrapping of the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) and appointed Sub-County Police Commanders (SCPCs)
There will be 322 SCPCs compared to the 597 OCPDs and Nairobi will have 11 SCPCs, down from the 14 OCPDs.
