Kenya’s government is set to launch a system of new car number plates which will encourage use of technology.
Motorists will get the new plates by January 2022 which will cost sh.3000 each, this was revealed by Correctional Services Principal Secretary Zainab Hussein , who also added that the government will benchmark with its foreign allies
A tender notice will be issued by NTSA for the supply of the services.
“We have sent a team to go to three countries to design a system that uses our own local material to produce the securitised digitised new generation number plates by January 2020,” Ms Hussein told the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security.
Recently, NTSA has been faced with a bedeviling problem of massive number plate duplicates by corruption cartels in bid to evade tax.
