A recent survey by Timely Kenya has highlighted the exceptional contributions of women to society and leadership, featuring notable personalities such as Muthoni wa Kirumba, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Martha Karua, Faith Odhiambo, and Hanifa Adan. These women were recognized for their positive influence and impactful roles across various sectors.

Muthoni wa Kirumba, a popular Kameme FM presenter and celebrated journalist, expressed her joy at being named among Kenya’s most impactful women. Known for her vibrant personality and deep connection with her audience, Muthoni has become a key figure in vernacular media. In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, she shared her excitement at the recognition, especially as it marked the first time she had been nominated in a broader category, beyond her work as a female vernacular presenter. Muthoni took the opportunity to commend other women in media, acknowledging their role in educating and positively impacting society. She also quoted Kate Hodges, saying, “Behind every great woman is another great woman,” underlining the importance of solidarity among women.

Other notable women who made the list include Martha Karua, a lawyer and politician, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, and Faith Odhiambo, the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). The list also highlighted the efforts of Margaret Nyakang’o, the Controller of Budget, marathon champion Faith Kipyegon, and human rights activist Hanifa Adan. These women are celebrated not only for their leadership but also for their ability to inspire and pave the way for future generations.

In addition to her recognition, Hanifa Adan has been widely acknowledged for her role in advocating for justice during the Gen Z protests. She was instrumental in raising funds through the M-Changa platform, helping victims of the protests cover medical costs, which earned her significant praise from Kenyans across the nation.

Muthoni wa Kirumba’s recognition is a testament to the growing visibility and influence of women in Kenya, and it serves as an inspiration for many. Through their leadership, advocacy, and dedication to uplifting others, these women continue to shape the future of Kenya in meaningful ways.
