NASA leader’s first born Rosemary Odinga epic fight with life sucking brain tumor was acknowledged during the silver anniversary of her grandfather and Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga over the last weekend.
During the 2017 general elections she opted out of Kibra MP seat after she suffered a mild stroke that came at a cost of suffering partial blindness.
She was left with a blurry right eye and to move around she usually relied on a white cane (A device used by people who are blind to scan their surroundings for obstacles or orientation marks)
But at the St Stephens Cathedral ACK Church in Kisumu her grandpa’s anniversary venue, she walked straight to the podium to deliver her speech and at many times scrolled through her phone with less effort.
However on many occasions, her cousin Jaoko Oburu guided her to ensure her safety.
While delivering her thanksgiving speech Rosemary was clear about the speech and avoided mentioning her health.
It was only through Dr Oburu Oginga, the family’s spokesperson who revealed that she was now in stable condition.
“As you know Rosemary was sick but we thank God she has now recovered fully,” said Dr Oginga.
He added: “She is a true Odinga and a fighter. This is evident in the spirit she has fought this illness with.”
Her mother Ida Odinga thanked the congregation for keeping Rosemary in prayers even as she went through the knife.
“Last year, we missed this annual church service because it was that day that Rosemary underwent a major surgery in China. But it is through your (congregants) prayers that she was healed.”
