Rozinah Mwakideu, ex-wife of city preacher and gospel singer Robert Burale, has publicly reflected on her brief marriage, describing it as the biggest mistake of her life. In an interview on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Rozinah recounted the events that led to the collapse of the union, citing multiple red flags and warnings she ignored before and during the marriage.
Rozinah married Burale in August 2012, just a year after meeting him. She described the marriage, which lasted only a year and two days, as one of the darkest periods of her life. She revealed that even her mother had warned her against the marriage, sensing trouble ahead. “Looking back, I can say the biggest mistake of my life was marrying Robert Burale. The darkest period of my life was when I was with him. I have grown, I have healed, and I have moved on. But even now, at 50 years old, my biggest mistake remains marrying Burale,” she said.
Rozinah recounted moving in with Burale at his family home in Karen for more than a month, despite earlier plans to visit her brother in Nairobi. She noted that during this period, both remained celibate, sharing a room but with no physical intimacy. She also noticed issues beginning to surface, including lies and inconsistencies in Burale’s behavior, despite the warmth she received from his mother.
Red flags emerged early in the relationship, including anonymous social media messages warning her to be cautious about Burale. Rozinah reflected that while Burale often spoke sweetly about their future, his actions consistently contradicted his words. When she confronted him about the rumors and messages, he dismissed them as jealousy from others.
Feeling trapped in the marriage, Rozinah planned to escape. She packed her belongings and intended to leave while Burale and her mother were away. The plan was initially foiled when one of Burale’s cousins noticed her preparations and alerted him. Despite this, Rozinah eventually carried through her decision to end the marriage and parted ways with Burale.
Rozinah’s revelations highlight the challenges she faced during her union with Burale, shedding light on warning signs she now recognizes in hindsight. She emphasized that the experience, while painful, allowed her to grow, heal, and move on with her life.
