Businesswoman Sarah Mtalii has firmly dismissed rumours that she and her ex-husband, Simon Kabu, are back together. This comes after a video of the two dancing joyfully on a yacht sparked online speculation about the nature of their relationship.

In the viral clip, which was posted on Facebook by Simon Kabu, the former couple appeared carefree and happy as they danced during what seemed like a celebratory trip. Sarah wore a floral white net dress, while Simon kept things casual in a T-shirt and shorts. Their chemistry and cheerful interaction led many fans to believe that they had rekindled their romance.

However, Sarah quickly addressed the speculation in a video statement, clarifying that the yacht celebration was strictly business. She explained that the dance moment was part of a marketing trip with their Bonfire Adventures team, where both continue to serve as co-directors despite finalising their divorce.

“So we went with my marketing team together with my co-director, who is also my ex-partner, to celebrate on the yacht. Even before you guys got to know what was happening, we were still creating content for Bonfire Adventures, even if we were apart. It was not a big deal for us,” Sarah stated.

She went on to criticise bloggers for misrepresenting the video and choosing to amplify false narratives instead of focusing on the company’s recent achievement—winning an industry award.

“Instead of bloggers putting up the news that we won an award, they decided to create a narrative which looks like a sponsored campaign and spread news all over that we are back together,” she said. “A lot of people were concerned about what was happening, and I have to make this statement and say that we are not back together.”

Sarah also revealed that their divorce case is nearing completion and is expected to be finalised by July 2025. She urged bloggers and media outlets to share her clarification or correct their misleading headlines, stating that none of them had reached out for a comment before publishing the story.

“If you’re a blogger, please share this video or correct your headlines. No single blogger has called me to clarify the news that you guys are spreading. It looks like a malicious narrative that is being spread online,” she added.

This statement follows a court ruling just days earlier, where Simon Kabu won a defamation case against Sarah. The High Court prohibited her from making any further defamatory statements against him and ordered the correction of previous posts.

Despite their personal fallout, both Sarah and Simon continue to run Bonfire Adventures together, showing a strong sense of professionalism even as they part ways in their personal lives. Their story has become a hot topic in Kenya’s entertainment and business circles, proving that exes can still work together—if only for the sake of success.
