Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan’s husband, Shakib Cham Lutaaya, has stirred conversation online after declaring his interest in fighting Kenyan celebrities in a boxing match.
Shakib made the remarks during an appearance on the Three Truths No Lie podcast, where he was asked by media personality King Kalala if he would consider facing a Kenyan star in the ring. “Kenyan promoters out there, if you know that there is anybody that I can challenge in a boxing match, let’s make it happen,” he said.
His bold invitation comes just days after he suffered a brutal knockout in Uganda at the hands of singer Rickman. The highly publicized celebrity match ended in the second round when Rickman delivered a decisive combination that floored Shakib, leaving Zari in tears at ringside.
Despite the loss, Shakib insisted he remains a good fighter and wants to take on celebrities who can attract attention. Fitness influencer Frankie, one of the hosts, suggested possible opponents including Khaligraph Jones, Willy Paul, and Eric Omondi. Shakib quickly dismissed Eric Omondi as a “funny one” but maintained that serious matchups with stars or media figures would be ideal.
His comments immediately sparked reactions on social media, with fans speculating on who would be the best challenger. Many backed rapper Khaligraph Jones, while others suggested Samidoh, Willy Paul, Bien, Otile Brown, or Arrow Bwoy. Some netizens, however, mocked Shakib’s confidence, pointing out his recent knockout defeat.
The debate has fueled excitement over whether any Kenyan celebrity will take up Shakib’s challenge. For now, the spotlight remains on his resilience and determination to redeem himself after a loss that generated headlines across East Africa.
