Becoming a Father at 18

In a touching social media post, Shatta Bway recalled the challenges and triumphs of becoming a father as a teenager. The life-changing event inspired him to adopt the title “Baba Jahim,” symbolizing the new responsibilities that came with fatherhood.

“Son, did you know that when I had you, I was only four years older than you are today?” Shatta wrote in his tribute. “The first thing I did was change my name to Baba Jahim—a title that came with immense responsibility for an 18-year-old boy. When life felt impossible, you gave it meaning. The pride I felt when you first called me Dad is the same pride I feel today.”

Shatta highlighted how fatherhood transformed his life, giving him a renewed sense of purpose and direction.

Honoring the Memory of Rebecca Kukuton

Shatta Bway also paid tribute to his late wife, Rebecca Kukuton, who passed away in 2023. He expressed confidence that she is watching over Jahim with pride and joy.

“I know that Mum, watching from Heaven, smiles every day as she sees the responsible young man her Ltesekwa is becoming,” he wrote, using an affectionate term that underscored the strong bond between Jahim and his mother.

The radio presenter shared how he remains committed to honoring Rebecca’s memory by being the best father he can be, ensuring their son grows up to be a responsible and upstanding individual.

A Father’s Dedication

Shatta Bway’s tribute concluded with a promise to continue being a strong role model for his son, emphasizing their bond as a partnership that strengthens them both. “Iron sharpens iron,” he remarked, capturing the essence of their relationship.

As Jahim enters his teenage years, Shatta Bway remains a proud and devoted father, cherishing the journey they’ve shared and the bright future that lies ahead.
