In collaborations with private firms and NGOs, South Africa is kicking out long queues along hospitals and health centers by introducing pharmaceutical ATMs.
The first ATM of its kind in Africa was launched on Thursday 15th March 2018 by Guateng Health Department in Alexandra , Gauteng province of South Africa.
Gwen Ramokgopa , Guateng Health MEC, promised that more such ATMs will be set up across the country to ease the long lines of patients, which will also cut their waiting time around the clinics as they would not have to wait for them to receive right medications.
The ATMs were launched by an engineering team from Germany, and they work by simply having a Skype-like visual and audio interactions with pharmacists whoa are on waiting
