According to organisers, nominations are open from April 15 to April 20, with public voting scheduled between April 23 and May 5. The awards ceremony will take place on May 11, 2025, at the KCB Leadership Centre in Karen, perfectly timed to coincide with Mother’s Day weekend.

In an exclusive statement to TUKO.co.ke, Esther Wairimu Kiai, Head of the Thamani Awards Secretariat, expressed that the awards were created to spotlight the often-overlooked stories of everyday mothers whose sacrifices, strength, and brilliance go uncelebrated.

“These are not your typical awards. From educators shaping young minds to unsung heroes balancing careers and caregiving, the Thamani Awards spotlight the women who form the backbone of our society,” said Wairimu.

A Grand Tribute to Maternal Excellence

Spanning 25 categories, including 21 competitive awards and 4 honorary recognitions, the awards aim to honour women from all walks of life. Categories range from Best Media Personality and Educationist of the Year to Best Mothers’ Initiative and the coveted Super Mum 2025, dedicated to mothers of children with special needs.

Nomination is open to the public, and Kenyans are encouraged to put forward names of deserving women—be it a teacher, entrepreneur, caregiver, or even themselves. Once nominations close on April 20, the official list of nominees will be released on April 22, followed by a voting period that will give the public a chance to choose their favourite maternal heroes.

Competitive Categories Include:

  • Best Media Personality – Amplifying inspiring voices
  • Entertainer of the Year – Celebrating cultural and artistic talent
  • Educationist of the Year – Recognising mentorship and academic excellence
  • Super Mum 2025 – Honouring mothers of children with special needs
  • Mental Health Champion – Supporting wellness and emotional resilience
  • Best Executive 2025 – Acknowledging visionary female leaders
  • Environmental Impact Award – Recognising champions of sustainability
  • Innovation and Technology – Celebrating mothers shaping the digital future
  • Best Beauty Brand & Best Fashion Line – Elevating confidence and creativity
  • Outstanding & Emerging Community Leaders – Celebrating changemakers at the grassroots level

The ceremony on May 11 promises to be an emotional and powerful evening, featuring live performances, storytelling, and tributes to Kenya’s phenomenal women. Organisers say it will be more than just an award show—it will be a national celebration of love, dedication, and strength.

As Kenya counts down to Mother’s Day, the Thamani Awards offer a powerful reminder: mothers are not only caregivers—they are educators, innovators, protectors, and leaders, shaping the nation’s future with every choice and sacrifice.
