Top 10 Most Common Cravings During Pregnancy

Feeling cravings in pregnancy is very common in the first few months and sometimes, those cravings for things you did not eat before are the first signs that make you suspect you’re pregnant.

If you have been pregnant or just now you are going through that stage, you are ashamed to feel strange cravings, in fact they are the most normal and can sometimes be the same in many women.

Why do we have cravings in pregnancy?

One of the most noticeable changes in women when they are pregnant are cravings, which can basically happen in two ways:

Feeling a huge desire to try certain foods or drinks, or feeling repulsed by some others. However, specialists still do not fully determine the origin or causes of these cravings.

On the one hand, it is said that they are due to hormonal changes, others indicate that they obey physiological questions, because it is their body that demands certain foods from them.

Some more, consider that the cravings are due to a mixture of both reasons. Whatever its origin, the truth is that most women feel some kind of craving during pregnancy.

Although their preferences change, there are certain cravings that are very common among all of them and here we tell you what they are:

Most common cravings in pregnancy

  1. Ice or ice cream
  1. Chocolate
  1. Various types of cheeses
  1. Cookies
  1. French fries in their different varieties
  1. Fruits of all kinds
  1. Cakes
  1. Chili or spicy food
  1. Peanut butter or peanuts
  1. Sausages and / or pickles.

The cravings, according to experts, are the expression of the organism that seeks to compensate with certain foods the metabolic and hormonal changes that are experienced during pregnancy.

Therefore, it is best to satisfy them but without losing sight of the fact that you should have a complete and above all, well-balanced diet.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), proper nutrition in pregnancy reduces the risks of premature birth, low birth weight and congenital defects.
