As the world marks the Social Media Day today, the city of Kisumu also joins the rest of the global village courtesy of a unique cadre that has been burning the midnight oil to ensure that the 30th day of June also sees the day lighted up.

2. Daniel Ominde
Daniel Ominde is a blogger, Journalist and Content Director ( maybe in short the title is CD..and not what you’re thinking ) at Urban Radio . He writes about socio-economic and political issues affecting the people of Kisumu. Ominde’s blog Siasa 254 , was voted Kenya’s first winner in the inaugural BAKE Awards in the political category. Currently, Ominde is giving back to the society ( kurudisha mkono ) by mentoring student journalist and high school students on blogging under the umbrella of Jaber Foundation founded by Adhiambo Fiona . 3. Eric Ochanji
Eric Ochanji is a respected business advisor in and outside Kenya .Eric has reputable skills from project management , team building, business strategy and community outreach .
Eric runs a Facebook group known as Kisumu Dads with 18,000 members. Currently, he’s working effectively to bring onboard people of from different professional to discuss issues relevant to the Facebook group.
With the powers vester in me as the coordinator for Social Media Kisumu, I unofficially declare Eric Ochanji the King of Facebook groups in Kisumu.

Christine Riaroh is the Marketing Director at Kenya Power Kisumu, Kenya. Blogger at Christineriaroh.WordPress.com . Christine is an active participant in relevant social media campaign in Kisumu . It’s a pleasure , Christine is one of the panelists for Social Media Day Kisumu .
5. Myra Anubi
Myra Anubi is the breakfast host coupled with Pilot 254 at Kisumu Urban Radio.
A dedicated event organizer , MC and Founder of Events by Myra.
Oh yes, Myra was an Mc for Miss Tourism Kenya 2016 . If you watched the live coverage of the Miss Tourism Kenya event that took place in Vihiga County, then I’m pretty sure you saw Myra . She joins the panelists for Social Media Day in Kisumu .
6. James Odede
James Odede is one of the Founders at LakeHub, a technology innovation hub in Kisumu ,open space for entrepreneurs , techies , investors and makers. (You can always passby LakeHub Kisumu and stream YouTube videos at a faster rate than Safaricom but you’ll have to ask for the WI-FI password ). James runs an App known as Mobidawa . Mobidawa provides target information on how to take medication RIGHT and explain possible sife effects. He is the perfect guy to talk about social media for health in Kisumu and Africa as a continent . James is one of the panelists for Social Media Day Kisumu .

Dennis Nyakach is a water engineer, now you know why he keeps his blog content flowing like River Nile. Denis is also a blogger and Founder of Amazing Kisumu . His website was nominated as the Best County Blog in the annual BAKE Awards. Currently he a founding member and President at the KoKo Media .
9. Nancy Okutah
Nancy Okutah is a blogger, Psychologists , Marketing Director and one of the Founders at the Koko Media. Nancy runs a blog by her own name nancyokutah.co.ke . She has mastered the art of branding. All her Social Media platforms read ; Nancy Okutah . She has been referred as the ” Robert Alai ” of Kisumu . All her guts on social media are inspired by her phrase “Dare To Speak ” . Indeed , “Great spirits have often overcome violent opposition from mediocre minds.” Albert Einstein . Nancy is one of the panelists for Social Media Day Kisumu .
10. Kizito Omollo ( kayz )
I’m a Global Citizen passionate about Social Media for change and youth development. Farmer because farming is cool.Co-Founder at Youth Village Kenya. Digital Strategist at Koko Media .Last but not least , trainer at Livity Africa, a youth media agency currently hosting FREE digital skills training in Africa through a programme called Digify Bytes .
