There are two kinds of Kenyans; those on a budget and those driving the latest car and living in the pristine suburbs of Nairobi.
If you’re in the former, this article is for you…the #hustler.
We hustlers are busy saving up for something, be it the first car, to move out to a better area or even for an apartment or dream holiday. Every coin goes into the piggy bank and splurging is reserved for birthdays and other few occasions.
Here are some things we are spending too much money on while we have alternatives:
1. Buying take out
Yo unless it’s end month, just save money and instead of junking on fast foods, make you some good ol’ ugali, kachumbari na ka-quarter.
2. Refiling bottled water
We all know that that water isn’t from a spring somewhere in Mount Kenya…(c’mon) just boil water and refrigerate it or invest in a water filter. Refiling bottled water every now and then is a waste of your money.
3. Take away coffee
We all have days when we’re running late and feel the need to grab a cup of java to go…instead, you can buy a nice thermo mug and make your own coffee at home in the morning before dashing out, won’t take you more than 5 minutes and you’ll end up saving around Kes.200/-
4. Gym membership
If you pay for gym membership, you better attend all the damn sessions! Otherwise, you could simply do with a run, YouTube work out videos and a rope. You could also buy dumbbells in a sports shop and work out from home and save that money till the time you can actually afford a gym membership.
5. Anti-ageing creams
Don’t be delusional. We will all age at one point it’s a biological fact. No need to waste money on those…just eat right, drink lots of water and exercise.
