A job advert from USA based New York Times news publication paper has sparked social media outrage in Kenya.

The top leading American daily in the world, was recruiting a new reporter who will be based in Nairobi but required to cover almost the entire of Africa.

What brushed Kenyans on the wrong directions, is rather the job description and what kind of the job the writer was supposed to undertake.

Most Kenyans believed that the New York Times was wrongly framing, gate-keeping and influencing the independence of the journalist in the way to show up the African continent.

Requirements to work as @nytimes journalist in Africa. You have the ability to focus on the negative and "occasional good news".

Aptly describing most Foreign correspondents in Africa. https://t.co/O9LqsEKiPr

When someone sent me this New York Times advert, I had to read it twice just to confirm that the kind of journalist they are looking for is one who would just focus on the negative news in this region. 🤦‍♂️ pic.twitter.com/WpI8G2F00J

Hard to distinguish this @nytimes ad for a Nairobi Bureau Chief from a call to join a 19th Century expedition with Livingstone & Stanley – H/T @kopalo pic.twitter.com/Sw78Crtxux
