Zari Hassan, the renowned Ugandan socialite and businesswoman, has publicly defended her husband, Shakib Lutaaya, after netizens criticized his English-speaking skills. The criticism came after a video of Shakib’s voice-over during a vacation went viral, with many questioning his communication skills.

In a fiery social media post, Zari addressed the trolls and urged women eyeing her husband to step aside, emphasizing that Shakib’s success is not defined by his language abilities. “My husband is winning, and it’s not about his English or how he presents himself on a show,” Zari stated. “He’s already on Netflix, and that’s proof enough. His quiet demeanor and focus on his success speak louder than any criticism.”

Zari also proudly mentioned Shakib’s appearance on the Netflix reality show Young, Famous & African, signaling that his career is on the rise. She highlighted that his accomplishments and determination are what matter most. “I fell in love with his heart, not your expectations,” she said, reiterating her support for her husband’s journey.

The socialite also responded to critics who suggested she should have married someone wealthier. “I’m too much for anyone to handle, and yet Shakib sticks around and supports me through it all. That’s what makes him a real man,” Zari continued. “Now, because he’s becoming more prominent with his appearance on Netflix, I see a lot of women trying to get his attention. But make no mistake—Shakib is mine, and I’m not going anywhere.”

Zari’s passionate defense of her husband left netizens with mixed reactions. Some praised her for standing by her man, while others felt that her remarks came off as slightly emasculating. Commenters on social media expressed a range of opinions. One user, @Jaybkats, humorously remarked, “Dear God, don’t give me a man I have to explain to the world about.” Others, like @Mama Bry n’Bry, appreciated Shakib’s decency, stating, “Shakib is a decent guy for sure. The way he puts himself together covers a lot.”

However, not all reactions were supportive. Some, like @L-eitee, felt that while Zari’s intentions were good, her way of defending her husband might undermine his own persona. “Even when she comes from a good place, she always somehow manages to emasculate him,” the comment read.

Zari’s boldness in defending her marriage isn’t a new trait. In the past, she has faced similar situations, including an altercation with Shakib over her ex-partner, Diamond Platnumz, attending their daughter’s party. At the time, Zari openly blasted Shakib, calling him out for not contributing enough, which sparked further online drama. However, Shakib responded, mocking her and calling her a “miser,” also hinting that she was too old to give him another child.

Despite the controversies, Zari remains resolute in her support for Shakib, dismissing external criticism and focusing on their shared success and love. “Shakib is winning, and I’m proud to be by his side,” she concluded.

As Zari continues to defend her husband’s honor, it’s clear that her commitment to him and their family is unwavering, regardless of public opinions.
