In spite of how much can be learned in school, many subjects that are needed in our life as adults (I mean practically from the youth), usually, are not taught in schools – never to say -.
The educational system remains rooted to an educational system inherited, even from the time of the industrial revolution: a time when simple workers were needed to work to produce money for the few.
The following are subjects that, despite being taught at school, can always be studied throughout our lives. Whatever age they are, encourage them to practice them all.
-
Computer and programming languages
Most Kenyan colleges and universities do not teach computer code courses as common units – even though computer science and programming are necessary careers in our generation that moves along with technology.
Even if you do not plan to be a systems engineer, or something like that, thinking like a programmer does is a necessary skill like learning physics or English.
-
Quick reading
Being a quick reader will not make you a genius or help you understand what you read better than others but it is a very useful skill.
There are several techniques by which to begin with skimming or enclosing groups of words that can help students with long reading lists per class.
Obviously, reading comprehension is better than reading a few seconds in seconds but quick reading will solve various problems in life.
-
Techniques of time organization
The organization of time is usually taught to busy professionals with their family life, work schedule and other needs.
The tendency to lack of organization generates stress, one of the main undervalued diseases.
The techniques of time management should be taught from primary school. These would generate changes in scientific production.
-
Study techniques (learning to learn)
Along with time management, it becomes the best life hack of schools.
Learning how to take notes, use better study methods (highlighting words does not work), and, of course, learning to remember what you studied are some of the gifts that any student needs to have.
-
Money management and basic finance
Teaching about the use of money to children should start at home, however, they are fortunate enough to receive these first basic lessons.
Math classes should implement everyday action problems such as debt, bank interest, credit, income tax and save our money.
All the above are problems of our day to day that we would have appreciated to learn to solve them before.
-
Survival techniques
Maybe a zombie apocalypse will never come to our world, but some survival techniques will be useful in your life.
You can learn survival techniques in nature such as lighting fires or finding water, as well as urban survival techniques, such as measures to take in case of an assault at home.
In any case, including first aid maneuvers will save you and others more than once.
-
Negotiation skills
In your life you will negotiate a lot, take it into account. Buy a car, reduce the delinquency of the accounts, ask for an increase in salary, even ask for a discount on some item of clothing; Knowing how to negotiate will serve you well.
Maybe in some schools there are debates contests but the negotiation is routed differently.
-
Self defense
In particular, I received these classes at school although it was limited to women.
I suppose that anyone, be it woman or man, have the same chances of being assaulted as being in a fight.
Something basic is that if you are ever in a fight (something you should avoid at all costs), remember: “Hit first and hit hard”.
-
Mental health and personal development
Nobody is safe from suffering stress or anxiety, qualities that are not absent in students. Even very serious problems such as depression or addiction could be solved beforehand.
We have all ever heard or spoken about people who suffer from these disorders, it would be more beneficial to educate the children how to deal with them.

How to look for a job and have a job interview
The purpose of receiving education is to apply for a job, however, it is not taught what type of job it is suited to, such as preparing a resume or applying for a job interview.
