For years we have heard in publicity, even in announcements of governmental instances, that the condom protects us 99.99% of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
Well, that figure is not accurate, speaking exclusively of pregnancies.
In a typical years of condom use between 10 and 15 women of 100 sexually active will get pregnant, or there is a failure of 10 to 15%.
And in a year of perfect use of condoms, there is a failure of 2 to 3%, that is 2 to 3 women of 100 sexually active will get pregnant.
How is the perfect use of the condom?
- Always and always, in each of the meetings from the beginning to the end, that is, you will not wear it because you feel you are going to finish.
- Combined with a water-based lubricant and clear with a perfect placement, avoiding breaks and slides.
Regarding Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the condom does not protect you from skin-to-skin infections, that is, from pelvis to pelvis.
Among them, the Human Papilloma Virus, which right now is a true pandemic and is the most frequent worldwide.
Another contagious disease, even with a condom, is the genital mollusc, syphilis, trichomoniasis and gonorrhea that are transmitted through skin-to-skin contact and fluids that drain.
You can get infected with Human Papilloma Virus, by the fluids that ran from the other infected person and touched your skin.
And specifically in Human Papilloma Virus when that person is highly contagious, that is, you have papilloma expressions, warts, if or not they are visible and when they rub against your skin they spread the virus.
And let’s not forget more than twenty strains of herpes, among them Genital herpes, and crabs or genital lice.
What does the condom protect us from?
Of Sexually Transmitted Infections that are via incertiva, for example HIV AIDS. Therefore, not because it does not protect from some infections, you have to leave the condom.
On the contrary, it can save our lives, but there will be some kind of infections that can only be controlled by abstention.
