Veteran Politician, businessman and philanthropists Nicholas Kipyator Kiprono arap Biwott passed on yesterday at a healthy facility after his long fight with illness in the hospital.

Most of the young generation may not be well conversed with him since he largely served in the then Daniel Moi government.

Here are 10 facts you should know about him.

  • He passed on yesterday at 77 years after suffering from throat cancer for many years
  • He studied at University of Melbourne and Kapsabet High School
  • Biwott served as a District Officer in Nkubu in the South Imenti Division of Meru District from 1964 to 1965
  • He served as an MP for 28 years, MP for the Keiyo South Constituency.
  • Biwott served in various ministries including the ministry of energy,agriculture and treasury
  • Biwott has also been voted as one of the best business man cum entrepreneur. He has since employed several Kenyans
  • Mr Biwott supported a number of projects in the areas of education, health and medicine, and assisting small businesses
  • He was named in the report of one of the masterminds in the death of Robert Ouko.
  • He was also named in the Goldenberg scandal during the Moi era of errors
  • Biwott was one of the Moi politicians who received travel bans from UK and other Western states
