Former Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay will soon be replaced by new arrival Steven Polack who is already in Nairobi city for the contract.

Reports indicate that Polack triumphed over Frenchman Richard Tardy and Brazilian Roberto to claim the lucrative job

Here are interesting facts about Steven Polack

  1. The English speaking coach was born 58 years ago as Steven George Polack on 10 January 1961
  2. Polack who has Finnish citizenship was born in Birmingham, England to an English mother and a father from the West Indies
  3. Between 1984 to 1994 and 1996–1997 he played for  RoPS Rovaniemi and FC Inter based in the Finnish premier division Veikkausliiga
  4. As a defender, he had a total of 13 seasons and 301 caps  in his playing soccer career
  5. He won the Finnish 1986 as a player
  6. He studied coaching classes before embarking on coaching profession where he has worked in Finland as well as King Faisal and Berekum Chelsea in Ghana
  7. In Ghana, he worked with Asante Kotoko, a top flying club in Ghana Premier League. Asante Kotoko has been the PL champions for a record of 24 times
  8. He has managed 13 clubs as a coach since 1999 to 2018
  9. As a coach he has won major cups namely Ghalca Glo G8 Cup: 2011, Ghana FA CUP 2016/17: 2017, Ghana President cup 2016/17:2017
  10. In 2018 February , he was sacked by the Kotoko after being eliminated from the Confederation Cup
