With current motor market still struggling, Kenyan car dealers are usually quick to offer you ‘advise’ so as to secure a sale.

But when it comes to dealing with a car agent, one needs a lingo in order to purchase what his or her heart desired.

Here are 10 tips on what not to say during your moment with car dealer.

  1. I really like this car
  2. Have you sold many cars today?
  3. What sort of discounts are you giving today?
  4. Are you sure you cannot meet my budget?
  5. Please give me a discount
  6. Is that all my old car is worth?
  7. What will it cost if I pay in cash?
  8. Give me your contacts
  9. Where can I get such a car apart from here?
  10. Do you have any current promotions?

Here are some tips to get around the deal and get what you want and what’s worth to avoid the dealers who will be trying to throw wool in your eyes

  1. I am interested in buying your car, only if it is worth what I am looking for
  2. I am a cash buyer and am ready to do the deal
  3. Has this car ever got an accident?
  4. How much discount will you give me?
  5. Can you meet my budget, if not I will buy elsewhere
  6. If your manager is the overall decision maker, can I talk to him or her?
  7. I have seen a better deal at your rival competitor- ensure you have facts
  8. If we agree on this amount, then you have the deal.
  9. If you buying an old or used car, walk with a mechanic who can access it on your behalf
  10. Start low while submitting an offer with a view of meeting in the middle
