Lillian Ng’ang’a has addressed the backlash surrounding a group of Kenyan influencers and gospel artists who received a fully sponsored trip to Israel under the Israel in Kenya tourism campaign. The trip includes creators and musicians such as Mwende Macharia, Kambua, Evelyn Wanjiru with her husband Agundabweni Akweyu, Jasmine Mungai, Mimo Karanja, Kestine Mbogo, Bona Bismack Okello, Salimo wa Kilimo, Susan Grace and Gadwilliam Kiragu Kimani. Their sponsorship covers flights, accommodation and meals. They are not receiving payment for the trip.

The online criticism grew as some Kenyans argued that promoting Israel during the Israel Gaza conflict is insensitive. Lillian said visiting Israel does not mean the influencers have ignored the suffering in Palestine. She said many people dream of visiting Israel and that a trip to the country does not signal political endorsement.

Lillian said the reaction has been harsh and based on assumptions. She said travel should not be used to label people as supporters of one side. She said a visit can be motivated by history, faith or personal interest. She said the influencers did not declare political positions by accepting the trip.

Her response comes as debate continues online. Some Kenyans accuse the team of siding with Israel. Others say the trip is harmless and should be seen as a tourism activity. The discussion highlights how global conflicts shape reactions to public figures. It also shows how travel choices can turn into public controversies during sensitive moments.

Lillian’s comments add balance to the conversation. She said empathy for Palestine and interest in Israel can exist together. Her view challenges the idea that travel automatically reflects political alignment.
