A study by Emory University entitled “Short and Long Term Effects of a Novel on Connectivity in the Brain” proves it.

The researchers discovered that becoming involved in the plot of a novel improves connectivity in the brain and brain function.
2.Provokes Imagination
Reading a fictional work improves the reader’s ability to put themselves in other people’s shoes and unfold the imagination in a way similar to the visualization or muscular memory of an athlete.

Improves Thinking capacity
The effect of reading a novel is recorded in the left temporal cortex of the brain , an area associated with language receptivity, also in the primary sensorimotor region, where neurons perform thinking functions.
4.Prolongs life
A recent study conducted at Yales University showed that reading can also add years to your life. According to Becca Levy Yale professor of Epidemiology, people who report reading a book at least 30 minutes a day showed a significant survival advantage against those who do not read.
