Saumu Mbuvi, the eldest daughter of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, has been giving her followers a glimpse into her personal life since relocating abroad. Now living in Dubai, the mother of two recently opened up about a deeply personal decision that changed the course of her life.

In a candid TikTok post, Saumu revealed how she called off two traditional marriage introductions and a Muslim wedding (Nikaah) after hiring a private investigator to look into the backgrounds of the men she was dating. Her decision was part of the viral ‘life is so private’ trend, where users share major life experiences that happened away from the public eye.

“Life is so private that no one knows I cancelled two introductions and Nikaah after I hired a private investigator on these men. It can never be me,” she wrote in her caption.

The revelation sparked widespread conversation about relationships and the importance of doing background checks before committing to marriage. Saumu’s story highlighted her decision to prioritize her peace of mind and personal safety over rushing into potentially harmful relationships.

Beyond her relationship decisions, Saumu also recently shared details about her move to Dubai. She explained that leaving her comfortable life in Kenya was a bold but necessary step. Among her reasons for relocating was the increased sense of safety she feels as a woman living in Dubai. She mentioned being able to walk outside alone at night without fear, something she deeply values.

Additionally, Saumu cited Dubai’s status as a growing tech hub as another motivating factor. She expressed her interest in growing her network and advancing her ideas in an environment that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship.

The former Nairobi socialite turned entrepreneur has shown a new side of herself, embracing independence, personal growth, and entrepreneurship abroad. Her journey serves as a reminder that change, though challenging, can lead to empowerment and new opportunities.

Saumu Mbuvi continues to inspire many with her transparency, encouraging others to take control of their lives and make decisions that prioritize their well-being and future.
