Media personality Ciru Muriuki has stirred online debate after proposing a rather unconventional tactic for Kenyans frustrated by government officials who ignore public outcry. Known for her candid takes on social issues, Ciru’s latest suggestion, though lighthearted, has grabbed attention amid the ongoing discussions about the state of governance in Kenya.

In a video shared on her Instagram Stories, Ciru reflected on how protests led by Kenyan youth, especially Gen Z, have been met with violence and dismissiveness from authorities. Drawing inspiration from survival tactics often seen in Nairobi’s informal settlements, she jokingly suggested that Kenyans should resort to hurling “flying toilets” at leaders who refuse to listen.

Flying toilets, a term commonly used in slum areas like Kibera, refers to human waste wrapped in plastic bags and thrown into open spaces due to a lack of proper sanitation facilities.

“What if we just started flinging ma.. at these people? You just see a government politician or official, unamrushia tu. I can cook up some good ones, go on a high-fat diet for that reason,” Ciru quipped in the video.

Her comments, although made in jest, sparked a wide range of reactions from Kenyans online. Some found the idea hilarious and even relatable, given the growing frustration over government inaction, while others questioned the moral and hygienic implications of such a protest tactic.

Ciru’s remarks come at a time when many Kenyans are openly voicing their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of youth protests and the broader national economic situation. The media personality, who has been more outspoken on civic matters since the passing of her fiancé, Charles Ouda, has continued to use her platform to amplify public concerns in creative and humorous ways.

Her idea, though unconventional, has once again highlighted the lengths to which frustrated citizens might consider going to have their voices heard. As Kenya continues to experience political and social tensions, Ciru’s playful suggestion serves as both comic relief and social commentary on the power imbalance between citizens and their leaders.
