Students interested in this type of modality must know the advantages and disadvantages of it.

Online studies can be a real salvation to reconcile schedules, but in some training areas are not recommended.

The imminent automation forces workers to stay in continuous training, to revitalize their professional profiles and update their knowledge.

However, combining studies and work can be a real challenge.

At the beginning, the idea of spending the morning and much of the afternoon at work to attend college at night seems difficult but not impossible.

But with the passing of the months, the arrival of the works and exams, this task is complicated and the abandonment becomes the main option.

To solve this problem and allow professionals with little time to stay updated, there is an innovative solution typical of the digital age: online studies.

Through different platforms, local and foreign universities offer courses, workshops, masters, degree and diploma courses completed in a completely virtual way.

However, this modality that seems to be highly beneficial has both advantages and disadvantages.

Positive aspects

  1. You can reconcile work, personal and academic life.
  2. You will mark your own hours to study.
  3. You will save time and money in transportation.
  4. You can enroll in universities and institutions in different regions of the country and the rest of the globe.
  5. You will give your profile to modern and updated touch.
  6. You will have assistance at all times of the day.
  7. You will exercise your technological skills.

Disadvantages

  1. It eliminates human contact with teachers and colleagues, so positive in academic instances.
  2. If your academic choice involves technical or practical knowledge, it is likely that the study program does not contemplate them.
  3. You may miss the dose of discipline provided by having a marked schedule.
  4. You will be exposed to the possibility of suffering technological stress.

Online diploma: yes or no?

As has been clear, studying online is not easy, neither in Kenya nor in any other part of the world. Before starting this path, it is important that you analyze your situation.

The first thing that you want to see if this is the right way for you, is the level of commitment that you are going to put in your training. If you know that this will be low, you will want to opt for a format that will help you to commit more.

The second thing you have to analyze is the time you have to train, to define which mode best fits your schedule.

Third, you should consider whether or not you are willing to break your limits to get ahead. The online world may not be the most comfortable for you, but if it is the path you can take, and can help you achieve a better situation, you must define if you are willing to sacrifice your preferences or if you will leave your goals aside before the first obstacle.
