Controversial media personality and content creator Andrew Kibe recently found himself in the hot seat during a roast session that left the internet buzzing. The event brought together top comedians who took turns poking fun at Kibe’s checkered past, career flops, and personal life, with comedienne Ruth Nyambura leading the charge in a scathing but humorous takedown.

A now-viral video captured the moment Kibe sat through the savage roast as Nyambura hilariously dissected various chapters of his life. From his past attempts at radio, app development, and politics, to his stint in the U.S., nothing was off-limits. She claimed that Kibe left the U.S. after working as a caregiver for the elderly and is now doing the same locally—only with “cheaper coconut oil instead of baby oil.”

The crowd roared with laughter as she read out fictional fan comments from his female followers, mocking how older women once thanked him for “changing their lives.” The jokes didn’t stop there. She said, “Kibe is a household name who can’t keep a household,” highlighting his failed marriage and business ventures like the short-lived app Yafreeka.

Nyambura also revisited Kibe’s earlier attempt to become a Member of Parliament for Lang’ata, his failed radio career, and even his former life as a born-again Christian. “He nearly became a pastor. He used to fast, but now the only thing fasting is his receding hairline,” she quipped, drawing explosive laughter from the audience.

Though visibly embarrassed, Kibe managed to sit through the roast, holding tightly to his beer glass while reactions from fans in the crowd swung between hilarity and secondhand discomfort.

This roast came just days after another controversial content creator, Kabi wa Jesus, was subjected to a similar grilling. During his roast, comedians zeroed in on his infamous scandal involving his cousin, who he fathered a child with. The jokes came thick and fast, and while Kabi took it in stride, his wife Milly looked clearly uncomfortable throughout the session—prompting criticism from some viewers who called the roast disrespectful.

Roast sessions like these have become increasingly popular in Kenya, turning the spotlight on public figures and holding them accountable—albeit through humor. For Andrew Kibe, who has built a brand out of criticizing celebrities and calling out what he terms as “fake lives,” this roast was a moment of reckoning served with a generous helping of comedy.
