Citizen TV through Royal Media Services Group Managing Director Wachira Waruru have spoken for the first time since the arrest of their journalist Jacky Maribe.
Waruru said that the company had granted Maribe a leaf to attend to her personal issues as they got behind her back in quest of a bail.
”…having engaged her for the last six years and assessing her performance, we hereby vouch for her character and recommend for her admission to bail,” said Waruru.
“It is the opinion and belief of the company that Jacqueline Wanjiru Maribe will not jump bail if released from custody,” he added.
Maribe who was recently promoted to be a prime time news anchor on Fridays, pleaded with the court to release her on bail so as to look after her four year old son admitting that she was not a flight risk.
The prosecution team through Catherine Mwaniki, had asked the court to include a clause in the bail so as to prevent Maribe from anchoring news. The prosecution argued that Maribe’s presence on the screens will intimidate the witnesses
