Comedian 2Mbili has come forward to rally support for embattled car dealer Khalif Kairo, urging Kenyans to help raise funds for his bail. The comedian took to social media, appealing to car enthusiasts and Kairo’s friends to come together and help him secure his release from remand prison.
Kairo, a well-known car influencer and dealer, has been facing legal troubles, with the most recent being an arrest for allegedly failing to deliver a fully paid BMW. Reports indicate that he was apprehended on March 25 while already handling other court cases. The following day, he was granted bail set at KSh 2 million, an amount he publicly admitted he could not afford, forcing him to remain in remand.
Taking to social media, Kairo expressed his frustration, stating that police intervention was making it difficult for him to recover and resolve the situation. “I keep trying to rebuild and settle issues, but the police frustration is really taking a toll. I will not be able to raise the 2M bond, so it’s remand for now. We will rebuild, restructure, and God will see us through,” he wrote before going offline.
Recognizing the car dealer’s struggle, 2Mbili emphasized that while Kairo had made mistakes, what he needed most at this point was help, not condemnation. He proposed a fundraising initiative where supporters would raise KSh 1 million, with Kairo expected to cater for the remaining amount.
The comedian assured well-wishers that he would reach out to someone close to Kairo to set up a payment channel for donations. “Kairo is an inspiration to many car enthusiasts like me. Let’s not let him suffer alone. We can come together and support him during this difficult time,” 2Mbili urged.
Social media users responded with mixed reactions. Some were eager to contribute, asking for a till number, while others criticized the situation, stating that Kairo had previously boasted about his financial prowess.
This latest arrest adds to Kairo’s growing legal woes, which have significantly impacted his business. A few weeks ago, his car dealership signage was taken down, signaling the struggles he has faced due to ongoing court cases. The mounting challenges even led to him letting go of his employees and taking a step back from business operations.
Whether Kairo’s supporters will successfully raise the funds remains to be seen, but 2Mbili’s call for unity has ignited a conversation on social media about helping those who have fallen on hard times, regardless of their past actions.
