Waondo, Homa Bay County — In a heartwarming end-of-year gesture, Diaspora Insurance, a UK-based insurance risk management firm, brought festive cheer to more than 200 elderly mothers in Waondo, Homa Bay County on Christmas Day through a generous grant to the Kajwang Foundation.
As part of its 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Diaspora Insurance awarded £11,000 to 11 charities across Africa to support community-focused initiatives. One of the beneficiaries was the Kenya-based Kajwang Foundation, which used the funding to provide festive gifts and essential supplies to vulnerable elderly women in the Waondo community.

The initiative created joyful scenes of giving and gratitude, underscoring Diaspora Insurance’s commitment to social impact beyond its core business of designing and distributing bespoke insurance products for expatriates and members of the diaspora.
Winnie Odawo, Director of the Kajwang Foundation, expressed deep appreciation for the support:
“With this grant from Diaspora Insurance, we’ve been able to put smiles on the faces of our elderly mothers here in Waondo. It means they could celebrate Christmas with dignity, surrounded by care and community.”
Beneficiaries also shared heartfelt words of thanks. Tina Anyango, one of the elderly mothers, highlighted how meaningful the support was:
“This Christmas was brighter because we felt remembered and cherished.”
Similar sentiments were echoed by Monica Akinyi and Jane Akinyi, who thanked both the Kajwang Foundation and Diaspora Insurance for their kindness and generosity.

The Kajwang Foundation, widely known for its community engagement initiatives — including bursary support, health awareness campaigns, and youth empowerment programmes — described the partnership as a beacon of hope.
“Our collaboration this festive season reflects what it truly means to serve our community with compassion. We look forward to more impactful initiatives in the years ahead,” Odawo added.
For Diaspora Insurance, whose headquarters are in the UK and whose work focuses on serving expatriate and diasporan communities through tailored insurance solutions, this CSR drive represents a meaningful way to give back. The company’s 2025 CSR funding has fostered goodwill and delivered tangible support where it is most needed — reinforcing the belief that giving back is just as important as moving forward.
